I just wanted to get a recap out for everyone that attended our leadership meeting and SNL meeting Sunday night and help those who were unable to attend know where our focus will be for the next 6 months here at BCC. First off it was an awesome weekend as we concluded our latest series "Got Questions" and I want to thank our staff and volunteers for doing an excellent job throughout this series.
Here's a summary of where we are headed.
1) We are focusing all of our attention and energy in gearing up for our Christmas ROCKFest outreaches which will included ministering at Bread of Life Outreach Center on Dec. 6th; Dec. 6th - Grocery give away along with gifts and meals to 135 elderly residences in Stewart Manor; Dec. 14th - Host a special Christmas party for 42 needy families from Get Smart and give gifts to thier children; Dec 14th - Take up a special Christmas Offering to continue raising money for the remaining projects in our ROCKFest Outreach Focus; Dec 21st - Special Christmas Service Outreach at BCC.
2) We are exploring another site for BCC that is south of Sanford by the new Walmart Supercenter on Wilson Road. The building we are looking at is 60,000 square feet with 8 acres of land and would allow us to reach more people in our community. In fact there are 35,000 more people within 15 minutes driving distance from that location than our present location. To help us undertake such a large project, we have joined in partnership with ARKS, a christian based organization that assists churches like ours in purchasing, finances, and constructing new facilities. This partnership will ensure that we are making the right move and will help us in taking our next step so that we can focus our attention on our mission and not be consumed with the host of burdens that are associated with a building program. When completed this new facility will be extremely economical and will allow us to increase our impact on the lives of people in the Sanford area.
3) Growth Groups - We are adding our next component into the ministry teams that have been so successful over the past two years. These groups will be home based weekly meetings that will be surronded by topical studies, connection, prayer and outreach. We will begin these groups on the week of January 11th, 2009 with our first topic "40 Days of Community". Then we will finish the rest of that first trimester with a 6 week stewardship campaing that will be used to help us raise revenue for our new building. These groups will meet in 13 week trimesters with 4 week breaks in between. During the breaks the groups will have the option of choosing differnt curriculums that can be used for the next trimester. This is going to really assist all BCC members and attenders in connecting with other, using and growing in their spiritual gifts and taking their next step toward Christ.
4) We will be shifting our communion services to the first Sunday of each month and endning our SNL service in order to allow for growth groups to take center stage in the life of the church.
I'm excited about the direction God is taking us as a church and I'm continually amazed at how you step up to every challenge that God puts before us. I would not trade BCC for any other church in the world. Keep praying, keep giving, keep serving and keep reaching and we will see God do amazing things through us and for us in the next 6 months.

Just so you know, pastor's need accountability and challenges too! This is a group from churches that we are networked with and we meet regularly to challenge oneanother and hang out together to learn how to be better leaders. In about 30 minutes we will go to lunch. Probably Chinese.... Oh well.

When was the last time you just had a good day at work. Usually my days are filled with things like managing and research, you know, real boring mundane stuff. Today however, was one of those days where I am thankful for the job I have... being a BCC Pastor! I had the privilege today to officiate a wedding for two of our members Mike and Ashlyn (now) Nealon. I just absolutely love weddings, to watch as God makes two into one. To see them look at each other with complete love is just an awesome thing to be a part of.
Here are some pics:
Isn't that Cool!!!!
So what are your good days like?

This week I decided to begin reading some of the books in the my bible that I haven't read in a while. You know, it's like I've been staying in the New Testament a lot and some of those obscure OT books were a bit dusty. So I decided to read from the prophet Habakkuk-ukukuk. (That is one sick name for a brotha!) It's like you got something stuck in the back of your throat when you say it. Anyway?
God got my attention right away. I mean I looked at it and thought; "3 chapters, I'll have this done in about 15 minutes, easy". I couldn't get past the second verse before God started speaking to me.
"How long, O Lord, must I call for help? But You do not listen!" vs 2
Now here's this preacher, wit da funny name, complaining to God. Where've I seen that before? Duh! He goes on to describe to God how evil everything around him is and how messed up his life is. Like God isn't able to see injustice or unrighteousness. And without it being written I can only imagine that he gave an emphatic; "WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!" at the end of his devotion time.
God's reply...
"Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn't believe even if someone told you about it."
Now that will just flat out, mess you up! To think that all of my trouble and all of the bad stuff going on in my life, stuff that I feel like I have to pray to God about, is actually God's plan that I couldn't see or even understand anyway. I think I'm getting De-Ja-Vue? (No that's the movie I'm going to go see this weekend.)
...Been there! Done that!
OK, so now what do I do? TRUST THAT GOD IS ALWAYS IN CONTROL!!!!!!
Sometimes I think we forget that God is not like us. He is not limited by time, space, problems, money, even our own stubbornness. He is all-powerful, always-present, and all-knowing. There's no detail that escapes His attention. It can't. If it could, then He would have a weakness and would no longer be qualified to be God. His plan for us is unchanging and His purpose for our lives is unwavering. He knows, sees and directs all things in this world to accomplish His plans, which sometimes includes 'messin-up' our world.
The next time I start to complain to God about the circumstances in my life, somebody slap me! Remind me that God is bigger than anything I could ever imagine and that He, not me or anyone else, is in charge of my life.
Will Ya???
